RECREATIVO 0-1 Clapham Alexandra 15.4.12.

100 years ago today the world woke up to the news that the unsinkable had sunk. Well the unthinkable has been thunk for Recreativo.
History will show it was ice that punctured Hackney's glittering ship of fools. Before christmas we were playing with rhythm, engines purring, champagne glasses chinking to the merry chatter and touchline oohs and ahs as flicks, backheels and overhead kicks delighted and entertained and goals were as bountiful as Kate Winslet's charms, tactics and discipline as unnecessary as lifeboats.

Then we hit the snow and ice, and a hole was ripped in our smooth exterior. One win since christmas. We started shipping goals and losing to sides we'd previously cut through like the great big hull of a ship cutting through mere water.

Today we had two clear warnings of approaching catastrophe - the Titanic really only had one. We gave two penalties away which Clapham Alex wasted - only to give them a third which they accepted, despatching the diamond heart of Reccy to the bottom of a deep, cold sea of self-destruction. Every man for himself. Two yellows and a red. And that's not morse code.

Two flares did burn brightly, if briefly, in the sky today - in the shape of Myles at centre back and David on the wing. Hope for a future in a new land of plenty.

Don't die today Recreativo. Live. Go one and live. Live, Recreativo, live to have lots of babies and to be a grand old lady. Die old and happy in your bed. Not here, not today.
