Sandmere 8-1 RECREATIVO 16.1.11.

Full marks to everyone who made it to Wandsworth Common, one of them 'muddy fields somewhere in South London' that we've found ourselves at over the past eight seasons. The dressing rooms are locked, the groundsman says all games are off because of the weather, there's no nets and you can barely make out the lines on the pitch. However, we are determined to play the game, borrow some nets from another team and kick off on a rapidly deteriorating pitch. Let's be honest with ourselves, we were beaten quite easily by a far better team today. Every attempted Recreativo clearance was scuffed and fell at the feet of a charging Sandmere attacker. We got nowhere near their goal but for long range efforts and by the time we got our only goal in the second half, we were 5-nil down anyway. They may of scored eight, or seven or six, we weren't really sure what the score was at the end. It probably didn't really matter. It felt a very long car journey home.
Team: Chris Read, Mario Pisano, Joao Spinola, Marcus du Sautoy, Jimmie Gregory (John Megaughin), Ben Chambers, Joe Haley, Adam Bradbury, Aaron Gayle, Max Bland, Connor Joseph.
Just a quick footnote: I played my final game for Recreativo Football Club today. A tearful goodbye to the anticipation, excitement, chaos, pain and joy that sunday football brings. Thanks to all the lads who made Recreativo such a massive part of my life. You know who you are. Jimmie G.
