Project Clapham 7-0 RECREATIVO 24.1.10

Such a long time since we've played, such an awful scoreline, but such a great game of football for everyone involved. We arrived at a muddy Wandsworth Common to find Project Clapham out warming up, an hour before kick off. Cones, bibs, group hugs (not like a team huddle, this was men...hugging!). Unbeaten in the league and doing drills the Royal Marines would have been proud of, our opposition today certainly meant business. And fair play to them. It's good to see a team disciplined, prepared, training hard when so many teams in this league have been so disorganized over the years. Who can remember the last time the entire Recreativo squad were in full kit, warming-up on time, together, preparing as a team without one player messing about with his I-pod, hair band, golden boots, mobile, dog, etc?
Still, the first 20 minutes Recreativo charged out of the starting blocks, Tino, Joao and Adam bossing the midfield. New signing Connor was busy linking up with Max and the boys at the back dealt with everything that came their way. The first 20 minutes however was followed by another 70, in which we were fair and squarely beaten with superior fitness..again. Not much to add really, although you wouldn't think so by the scoreline, but James had a fairly good game in goal, Aaron was pretty solid at right-back and Max, Bilal and Connor were busy throughout. As always, 100% effort from all involved and at the end of the day we can't ask for anything more than that. A great game of footy and it was
almost still light by the time we got home!
