Lyric Celtic 1-3 Recreativo 21.9.08

Clapham Common 10.30 am

With the Chelsea-Man Utd game on the telly this afternoon, it looks like Sky is even dictating the kick off time of this, our first league game proper of the season. The morning is beautiful. Autumn leaves caress the edge of Clissold Park, sunshine breaking through the trees as we pile into the Recreativo cavalcade. We tell Nick to follow the fug of fag smoke billowing from Steve's car as we head south to Clapham Common and into the darkness of the sheds, other teams already spilling out into the september sunshine and out onto the long grass. From what we recall, we've always had a few bust ups with Lyric, on field shenanagins that have sullied a good afternoon's football. However, with a new guy in charge and half a new team, our opposition today just get on and play football. Which is exactly what we've come to do after driving half way across London..again..
Recreativo put in 100% effort today, from the early start, the well drilled warm up and the determination to get this season off to a winning start. We were rewarded with 3 first half goals, but in truth, after a few inch-wide misses, a penalty skyed and a disallowed goal (poor Mario!), we could of gone home 5 or 6 up.
A great performance all round. On this evidence, a top three finish this season lads surely?
