RECREATIVO 4-2 Sandmere 18.3.12.
Most Reccy games end with a grovelling apology these days.
Only this time... it was to us!
This 4-2 friendly win was a pleasant and gentle a game as the Marshes have seen in years.
Yes, we had already banked three points thanks to Sandmere turning up with just six players.
But after the trauma of the past few games it was a joy to leave with a win - and handshakes rather that fisticuffs.
And, of course, a 'sorry' from their men Ollie and Adam for the no-shows.
Sandmere picked up a few Marshes stragglers and, with Tino and Charles in their ranks, made up 10.
A goal from Dan D and two from Aaron had our 10 on the brink of a 3-2 win.
And an ice-cool overhead dink from Dan H in the final seconds rounded it off.
Even better, though - we collected enough subs for the first time this season to actually cover the £45 we paid to Neville.
Pity, then, that he left before kick-off and did not even ref it!
The three points leave us right in the mix - with a top-of-the-table blockbuster at Sloane next week.
A win there would put us in pole position for the title.
And that really would be something worth getting worked up about.
Team: Chris R, Mario, Joao, Umar, Dan H, Dan D, Chris C, Ben C, Joe H, Aaron, Tino (Sandmere), Charles (Sandmere).
