RECREATIVO 1-3 Clapham Alexandra 10.4.11.

The last game of a topsy turvy season was a heads-down serious team effort with a proper football scoreline. We spent much of the 90 minutes pressing forward with some of the lovely intricate play that has characterised our best moments of this campaign, and hard tackling in defence. But missing a few key players at the back we were eventually vulnerable to the lanky reach of Clapham's number 88. A deft chipped goal from Liam was by no means our only effort - and the final 1-3 scoreline flattered Clapham's ambition if not their finishing.

So that's it til September. Most of us will be back for more in the sunshine, rain, wind, and hail. (The powers that be don't seem to let us play in the snow these days.) The famous mauve kit is beginning to look a bit threadbare, new balls wouldn't go amiss and the coffers need replenishing. But the main thing in the closed season is for someone to read up on how not to take foul throws.

Team: Chris Read, David Dike, Liam (1), Aaron Gale, Max Bland, Benson Chambers, Connor Joseph, Jimmie Lloyd, Umar Ba, Joe Haley, Mario Pisano, Adam Bradbury.
