RECREATIVO 13-1 Sloane 17.10.10.

The Marshes look simply breath taking today. Gorgeous green flat pitches seem to stretch on forever, bathed in glorious autumnal sunshine. Us early arrivals laid out the kit, pumped the balls and sorted the nets as various players turned up, everyone eager to begin this top of the table clash. Sloane grabbed a couple of ringers from the sidelines of the Asian league match on the adjoining pitch - who turned out to possibly be their best players. As always, the team were well up for this one, Max screaming for every ball, desperate for that Golden Boot and big fat cheque promised by the management for the first player to reach 20 goals.
It was one way traffic to be honest, Max bagging four, Connor on a hat-trick, Liam two, Benson and Russell grabbing a goal a piece, an o.g. and even this here blogger, ahem, smashing in a 30 yarder (first time I remember crossing the halfway line in two seasons, but the goal will be burnt into my memory for years!).

Played six. Scored 41. Every goal celebrated in it's unique style. Liam crosses himself, points to the heavens and dedicates it to his lost nearest and dearest. Max waves his shirt round his head. Adam just looks stunned and confused and I almost wet myself! This season has been simply fantastic so far. A mixed group of lads who give their all for Recreativo Football Club every sunday afternoon, going all out hell for leather to bring home some silverware this time round. Keep up like this and surely this time the league cup will come to Hackney Marshes, the heart of grass roots football. We will be giving it a go.

Team: Russell Smith, Mario Pisano (Marcus du Sautoy), Joao Spinola, Chris Read, Joe Dunthorne (Tino), Connor Joseph, Adam Bradbury (Joe Haley), Aaron Gayle (Jimmie Gregory), Benson Chambers, Max Bland, Liam Greenaway.
